FriendFeed began as an RSS aggregator, but has evolved significantly with input from an avid user base and changes to other social services such as Twitter and Facebook.
Friendfeed’s latest development is to make its entire service ‘real time’ -- no more browser refreshes needed. I’ve been using the sidebar version for months now, but today’s announcement extends the capability to all of Friendfeed’s capabilities.
I recommend giving Friendfeed a try if you haven’t already.
